How long does it take for the band to set up? We would arrive before you have your evening meal and set-up then so you don’t loose any dancing time later in the evening. Dependant on the size of the venue and any optional extras you decide to have this can take from 1-3hours. We take a lot of pride in the equipment we provide and how the show looks so spend that little bit of extra time getting it right for your big day.
When do the band arrive? As we are normally there to set up we will have been and gone and be back again at around 7pm.
How long do the band perform for? We will start whenever you are ready to go so be it 7.30pm or 9pm. We then play straight through till 1am, not even stopping for a cup of tea at the buffet as we will perform our swing/lounge set for your guests to enjoy. Most bands will finish at 12pm and you will have the extra cost of booking a disco if you want entertainment until 1am however we are hardcore and will go all night long!!!! hehe.
Can you perform our first dance? It would be our honour to perform your first dance as husband and wife however if you would prefer us to play the original version of your song then we’re also happy to do this. If we are unable to get the music for your 1st dance then we would inform you well in advance.
How long does it take you to learn a new song? Honestly, sometimes only 1 hour. It really depends on the song. If it’s for your 1st dance then we would like a bit of time to perfect it so ask for 4 weeks in advance but we are very accommodating and will do our best to get it perfect for you. If you would like the band to learn any other songs not on our playlist then again we would ask for 4 weeks notice. We would discuss all this when we meet up with you both so we can get to know you and vice versa.
Can I have some input into the music you play? Of course you can after all it’s your big day. We will try to perform as many of your chosen songs as we can but we do ask that you don’t give us a playlist as would then end up like a jukebox. We don’t have playlists but read the floor and decide what to do, when and where on the night. Our clients are more than happy with the way we work the dancefloor.
Can I see the band play? Unfortunately The Big Show only perform for private functions (we don’t do pubs and clubs) so you would literally be walking in on someone else’s wedding, birthday party, anniversary party, ect which can be a bit awkward for both you and the client we are performing for. That’s why we got the videos, that you will see on the website, made so that people could view us in action from the comfort of their own home. However as we have been nominated for the VOWS awards 3 times (and are the only band in Scotland that can say that) then you really can trust that what you see on the video is what you can get on your night.
If we like what we see where do we go from here? The best thing to do is fill in your details on our enquiry page and Alex or Rob will get back to you and let you know the availability of your date. If you want to go ahead then we will post you out a contract, you send it back with your deposit and that’s us booked. We will then arrange to come and meet you both to discuss any ideas you may have and get to know you so you know what we look like and we know what you look like (although the big dress on the day might give it away). That just makes things a bit more personal which is how we like it rather than just phone calls and emails. As we are both a bride and groom to be as well (roll on 10 th Sep 2011) then we know exactly what you are going through and can share some tips and secrets with you.
